What is a better, cheap, place to get a 1st home? Tampa, Tallahassee, or Columbia (SC)? Like all 3.?

There is really nothing to do in Tallahassee and it is a small airport so it is hard to go anywhere and it is expensive to travel from there. I don't know Columbia.

We moved to Tampa because it has first rate hospitals, a good airport serviced by inexpensive carriers, Busch Gardens, 1 1/4 hours from Disney, good shopping (check out international mall and the outlets in Ellenton), near the beaches. There is night life in Ybor City and in Channelside. The housing market went way down and is still down. You can find some real bargains now and it is supposed to rebound the end of 2009. My son just bought a beautiful home in Tampa for less than $200,000. 3 bedroom, 2 baths, 2 car garage, nice yard. What is a better, cheap, place to get a 1st home? Tampa is freaking EXPENSIVE!!!!

I live in the Tampa area, and its just BLAH.

I do know that a lot of people i know did move to Brandon b/c it was cheaper than Tampa and its about 15min away depending where in Tampa and where in Brandon you are at.

Must look into the jobs available in the location. Tampa sucks for that. Dont know about the other two though. What is a better, cheap, place to get a 1st home? Tampa, Tallahassee, or Columbia (SC)? Like all 3.?
Columbia is your best bet. It's growing at a rapid rate yet the cost of living is still really affordable.
