Why isn't Miami the capital of Tallahassee?

A friend of mine were talking the other day and he brought this up which is a good question I've never thought of.

So does anyone have an idea why Miami isn't the capital of Florida? It's obviously MUCH more popular than Tallahassee. I mean I would understand if it were Orlando but Tallahassee? Why isn't Miami the capital of Tallahassee?
Quoted from Wikipedia.

"Tallahassee was created as the capital of Florida during the second legislative session. It was chosen as it was roughly equidistant from St. Augustine and Pensacola, which had been the capitals of the Spanish and British colonies of East Florida and West Florida."

But it's the same deal with a lot of other states. Why isn't L.A. the capital of California or NYC the capital of New York. A lot of the times, the capital of a state isn't always the biggest city.

I think when people decided Tallahassee was the capital, Miami (and other cities) and Florida isn't what it is now. Miami might not have even existed when they chose the capital of Florida.
State capitals are rarely interesting. They are often smaller cities, with small airports, and little economy outside of government. There are some exceptions, of course.

Why pick them? Sometimes, it's because it's the center of the state. Or because it's on a seaport. Remember, they picked these capitals years ago.Why isn't Miami the capital of Tallahassee?
When the state of Florida was established Tallahassee was the most prominent city, and Miami was just a small town. While Miami has grown to be much larger, there is no advantage to moving the capital to Miami.
