Why, in Zombieland, does Tallahassee paint a "3" on the side of both of his cars?

In the movie, as soon as he and Columbus pick up the Hummer, he paints a "3" on its side, and the black truck already had a "3" on it when Tallahassee first appeared. Anyone know why? Why, in Zombieland, does Tallahassee paint a "3" on the side of both of his cars?
He does it because he is a Dale Earnheart fan (he was a Nascar driver).

I would assume he was a Dale Earnhardt fan. I don't think it was anything deeper than that.
its the number of a famous race car driver named dale earnhart jr.
